Unboxing Funko Pop & Tee: Sonic the Hedgehog

     The Sonic the Hedgehog franchise is one of my favorite gaming titles of all time. It seems, wherever Sonic goes, there's adventure to be found, evil geniuses to battle, and hundreds of rings to grab.

     Now if you’re into collecting like I am, then you'll want to read up on the exciting Sonic Gaming Series from Funko Pop!

Who is Sonic The Hedgehog? 

Sega's Sonic the Hedgehog
     The first Sonic game, Sonic the Hedgehog, released in 1991 for the Sega Genesis. As Sonic, players run and jump at high speeds using springs, ramps, and loops, with notable power ups such as the shield, gold rings, speed shoes, and invincibility.  Latter Sonic games, such as Sonic CD, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 - 3, Sonic & Knuckles and countless more, introduced additional characters, moves and crossover titles.

THE PACKAGING 

     The packaging comes in an arcade shaped box. Inside the box is one large t-shirt and an original Funko Pop! vinyl figure. Takes my back to the day I opened my first Sega Genesis in 4th grade. The Nostalgia is real!

THE T-SHIRT DESIGN

     The shirt I'm wearing is a size large, short sleeve, crew-neck, in black. The graphic style is reminiscent of the old neon arcade signs. Sonic is seen running atop a platform with arms swung back. The portion of the shirt that reads Sonic, is in blue neon, half filled with ring energy, confirmed by the row of rings seen right under. The Hedgehog is displayed in blue neon, inside of a red neon ribbon. I especially like detail in Sonic's legs, seen as red neon blurs just like in the original games. 

THE POPS

The Pops you see here, are the first editions of the Sonic Franchise to hit the Funko Pop Gaming Wave. 

2nd edition Pops! 

     Here we see a modern appearance for Sonic, as the second edition of Funko Pop, is holding a gold ring, shaking his finger. You'll especially notice that this particular Sonic has a metallic finish on the blue and gold ring. This is a special addition found in the Tee & Pop bundle. Buying the other versions of Sonic by himself, will feature the same blue tone, but in a matte finish. The Sonic Pop! is by far the best in my collection, I especially love how vivid this Pop! came out, bringing me back to the days when 16-bit graphics was considered revolutionary. HAHAHA

     Additionally; Shadow the Hedgehog, an anti-heroic doppelgänger of Sonic with a dark past, and  Dr. Eggman, an evil scientist whose ambition is to conquer the world; make the cut for the the second edition of Sonic's Games Pop! releases. Exclusives include a yellow Super Sonic issued through GameStop, a Sonic glow-in-the-dark (with gold ring) at Toys R Us outlets, and Shadow holding Chao at Hot Topic.
