Who is Gregor Hildebrandt
Gregor Hildebrandt (b.1974) lives and works in Germany. He is a professor of Paintings and Graphics at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich, since 2015. His work can be found in renowned collections, such as the collection of Centre Pompidou in Paris, The Contemporary Art Collection of the Federal Republic of Germany, The Yuz Museum's collection in Shanghai, the Martin Z. Margulies Collection and the Rubell Family Collection in Miami and the Burger Collection in Hong Kong.

Sleek Surfaces and Stark Forms
"In meiner Wohnung gibt es viele Zimmer"-- translated, "In my home, there are many rooms"-- is Hildebrandt's 5th showing with Perrotin. Gregor skillfully makes use of magnetic tape from vinyl records, vhs and audio cassettes. His attention to detail resonates throughout the space; affording each section of mute musical fabrics an experience beyond visual impact. Though the works have the appearance of blankness -- black, white, and silvery tones dominate -- they are multilayered with rich history, both felt on a cultural and personal level.

My Overall Thoughts
As a photographer, I fell into trance taking in the sensory information. As a music lover and creator, I couldn't have asked for anything more. It takes an interestingly innovative mind to shape a world such as this one. Gregor Hildebrandt's installation will be showing at Perrotin, November 3rd - December 22, 2018. Make sure you don't miss it.
