Introduction
In my previous post, "Refining One's Image: Tapping a Deeper Source", I reflected on the importance of cultivating a proper self-image. In that post, I discussed how essential it is to maintain good hygiene, and how hygiene is closely related to achieving success, and feeling good about yourself. Universal Beauty Products reached out to me recently, and they asked me to try out their Jamaican Mango & Lime Collection, and write share what I think. Since their products are made for my hair type and involve hair care, and hygiene; I agreed to see what they have to offer.
Importance of Men's Haircare
Jamaican Mango & Lime Conditioning Shine provides brilliant shine, protection, and refreshing scent.
Why is haircare important to Men? Simple answer, hair is one of our best accessories. For guys, a thick head of hair adds impressive looks to a face, and character to your personality. As a guy who wears the Dreadlock hairstyle, maintaining the look and health of my Locs, can be challenging. DreadLocs are a hairstyle in which hair is twisted and matted together to create rope-like strands. While Locs hadn't been introduced to mainstream American culture, until the 1970s, they have existed in cultures around the world for centuries. I wear dreadlocks, because they are kind of like a fingerprint. I don't believe there is anyone who's dreads are exactly formed like mine, so they give me a sense of uniqueness. However, if I don't take care them, that unique quality in my hair, may send a the wrong message, to who ever I come in contact with.

That's where Jamaican Mango & Lime come into action. Trying out the Products
Spraying Shine-A-Loc into my scalp
For starters, I quickly recognized which products I would be using more than other. Instantly I grabbed the Shine-A-Loc, to add a vibrant healthy glow to my locs. Next I picked up the Tingle Shampoo, which feels amazing and refreshing on the scalp. I tried the conditioner as well, and I noticed it left my hair feeling heavier than I'm use to, but I had a lot of new growth that could account for the added weight. I really enjoy the smell after wash though. A lot of shampoos and conditioners, usually smell like chemicals, and Jamaican Mango & Lime didn't. Finally, I combined a little of the Locking Gel and Conditioning Shine, to palm roll loose bits and piece of my strands. The results left my locs looking smooth and healthy.
Conclusion
If you are thinking about starting Dreadlocs, I would definitely recommend using Jamaican Mango & Lime. Not only was it the product I use to start my Locs, Jamaican Mango & Lime works great on all types of hair textures, contains a fair amount of natural ingredients, and leaves you with a refreshing fragrance after use. Some of their product do contain questionable ingredients that some people may not like, so I would advise reading the label to see what's in the bottle.
