Attending Volta New York 2022 was an unforgettable experience for me. It was there I first met the Gallery and had the opportunity to view the incredible works of the artists they represent. The pieces that stood out to me the most were those created by John Cox and Lillian Blades. John Cox's use of colors and found objects was truly badass, as he created stunning pieces that were bold and poet. Lillian Blades' mixed media mosaics were also breathtaking, with a strong sense of nature and the rhythm it carries. Both artists have a unique style that left a lasting impression on me. It was a privilege to be able to view their works up close and to meet them in person.
Conclusion
In conclusion, The Current: Baha Mar Gallery and Art Center has cemented itself in my book, as a trailblazer in Bahamian Art and community involvement. My visit to their Volta New York 2022 exhibition only served to reinforce my admiration for their commitment to showcasing the best of Bahamian art and uplifting local artists. May their inspiring leadership and dedication to the arts continue to shine a bright light on the vibrant and diverse culture of the Bahamas for years to come.
