Introduction

Voodoo Ranger IPA is an alcoholic beverage produced by the New Belgium Brewing Company. The beer is most known for its colorful can designs, unique flavors, and charismatic mascot: The Handsomest Bear. As a supporter and longtime fan of the brand, I recently came across a slew of 8-bit games, centered around the various flavors in the Voodoo Ranger Family. In this post, we'll take a look at the Voodoo Ranger video game catalogue, and explore the gameplay.

About The Company

Founded in 1991 in Fort Collins, Colorado; New Belgium Brewing Company is famous for its flagship beer, Fat Tire Amber Ale, Voodoo Ranger IPA, and seasonal favorites like Mural Agua Fresca Cerveza, and La Folie Sour Brown Ale. Through its evolution, the company continues to grow in its commitment to value people and the environment, over making large earnings for stakeholders. New Belgium is a Certified B Corporation, and is recognized as a leader in sustainability and social responsibility.

Voodoo Ranger 8-bit Titles

In total, there are five Voodoo Ranger IPA games. Three are available for download in the app store, and the other two games are available here

Voodoo Ranger: Starship

Starship IPA, marks the first of the Voodoo Ranger IPA's brewed by mid-fermentation dry hopping. This technique was new for the New Belgium Brewing Company, released in 2020. The game, Starship IPA is an action shooter, available for the IOS.

Voodoo Ranger: 1985

Voodoo Ranger 1985 IPA, stars The Handsomest Bear, in an action packed  hoverboard joyride. Players hover through the streets, interacting with obstacles, enemies, and key items.

Voodoo Ranger: Juicifer

Juicifer is as fun as it is surprisingly challenging. Modeled after the NES Excite Bike games, The handsomest Bear, takes on his most daring role yet. Players, will ride through three tracks, hoping over road hazards, and performing tricks.

Conclusion

Voodoo Ranger is a fun brand, that obviously doesn't take itself too seriously. I simply love the amount of detail that went into fleshing out these 8-bit experiences, lending as further extensions in the Voodoo Ranger universe. I can't wait to see how augmented reality and other technologies will evolve this tech and merchandising space.
