Ten Games You Should Be Playing Right Now

Ten Games You Should Be Playing Right Now

Introduction

Mobile gaming has come a long way in development since the early days of games like, Snake and Tetris on the Nokia 6110. Now, it seems like mobile games are only getting bigger and better by the minute. According to Techcrunch, mobile gaming accounts for 33% of all app downloads, 74% of consumer spending, and 10% of all time spent in-apps. Whether you consider yourself a casual or hardcore gamer; sifting through the endless catalog of titles can be a daunting task.
I’ve put together this list of 10 mobile games you should be playing right now for Android and IOS. Most of these titles are free to play, while some are paid; including simulation, strategy-puzzle games, role-playing games (RPG), fighting games, platformers, and more.

10. Sneak Ops

The first game on the list is Sneak Ops, by the publisher, Noodlecake. Sneak ops is a strategic, stealth-based tactical action game, much like the legendary Metal Gear Solid series. The goal here is to infiltrate the high tech military facility and collect all the data. You must knock out guards, avoid security cameras, and crawl through tunnels in an effort not to get caught! The game is can get very challenging, but not so much that you go into a rage. The base layouts change daily, and players have up to 25 characters to unlock. If you have been wanting to play a solid stealth-based game, check out Sneak Ops, your thumbs will thank you.

9. GRINDSTONE

Next on the block, is Grindstone. This sword-slashing puzzle and adventure game comes from the award-winning creators of Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP, Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes, and Critter Crunch! Battle bosses, loot resources, discover long-lost blueprints for powerful gear, all while cleaving the innards of your deadliest foes! Players will fall in love with the games' art style if they watch a lot of Adult Swim, and the soundtrack alone will have you freestyling to 7 combination slashes. If you're looking for a simple game, that looks good on your phone and plays well, then download Grindstone.

8. Rocky Rampage: Wreck Em Up

Crashing in at eight is Rocky Rampage: Wreck Em Up. The game follows Mr. Boulder, the “Fashionable” Champion of the Rock Kingdom. One day his collection of heroic Wonderpants is stolen by the jealous, Queen of the Scissor Empire. You must help Boulder storm the castle of Her Sharpness, and gain back his Wonderpants. Launch Mr. Boulder up to epic speeds, destroying anything in his path. While plowing through the hordes, you'll find an array of interesting characters, all with unique attributes, some you can even ride! If you're into casual high-speed gameplay, with hints of fashionable charm; then you'll love Rocky Rampage.

7. Car vs Cops

Car vs Cops is a driving simulation game, where players maneuver from cop cars, trucks, tanks, and helicopters in an endless high-speed chase. The game is very straight forward, and highly addictive. Players can enjoy daily rewards, unlimited challenges and plenty of cool cars to unlock. My favorite ride is the Delorian from Back to the Future. It may not have time-traveling capabilities, but it sure does look sweet running away from 12.

Kitty Pow Pow features adaptive gameplay, allowing any player to learn the game at his/her own pace. There are numerous power- ups, weapons upgrades, and a section where you can craft your own characters.

5. Mega Man X

Mega Man X

Fifth on the list is my favorite game character, Mega Man X. Capcom’s action-packed Reploid, was originally released in the ’90s on the Super Nintendo Gaming Console, and is considered among the best action-platformer games of all-time. In fairness, the mobile version of X is not as impressive as its console counterpart; having much of its frame rate diminished, fewer activated visual effects, and watered-down appearance. Hardcore fans of the series may not be too pumped about this release, but it’s still Mega Man, and the gameplay is good enough for anyone to jump in and have a good time. The game features 3 game modes including 3 difficulty levels with 80 challenges, customizable weapons & armors, and achievements. If you want to see what Mega Man is all about, check out Capcom’s Mega Man X.

4. Great Sword: HERO, The Stickman RPG

Great Sword

Great Sword is a fun and sophisticated sword-swinging beat em up, with beautiful graphics and a fair level of customization. Fight against a variety of monsters and bosses, and test your reflexes against the computers assorted attack systems.  Great Sword can be downloaded and played free of charge, and goods can also be obtained through advertising or in-app payments. If you want to play an easy game, that’s a lot of fun, and reasonably challenging, then you’ll like Great Sword.

3. King Of Fighters Allstar

King of Fighters Allstars

This game brings together all the characters from the King of Fighters universe, implementing a vending machine styled system, where players redeem tickets for a chance to unlock different characters at random. The game also features limited-time crossover events with other franchises and companies.

Most notable crossovers have been with Gintama (2018, 2020), Samurai Showdown (2019), and Tekken (2019). Other features in-game include, a battle card system, where special moves can be unlocked by equipping a matching card suited for your specific fighter. KOF Allstar plays very well for a mobile game and does a great job of engaging the player. If you’re looking for a good beat-em-up, with well-rounded characters development, great controls, and hours of replay value, then you will be happy with KOF Allstars.

2. Gum Slinger

Gumslingers

Gum Slinger is a duel-based gun fighting game, developed by Itatake. Gun-fighters consist of gummy candy people, who appear to have been melted and fuse with other candies. Players can select from a variety of unlockable gummy characters, like cowboys, dragons, and even the grim reaper. The duels themselves are a lot of fun, largely due to the rag-doll physics system that the game is based on. There are plenty of unique stages and skill shot levels, that adds an element of unpredictability to each duel. If you like gummy bears, fast gunplay, and goofy action; Gum Slinger is the game for you.

1. Totally Reliable Delivery Service

Totally Reliable Deliver Service

At number one, Totally Reliable Delivery Service is a physics-based multiplayer simulator game about horrible delivery service drivers. If COVID-19 taught us anything, it is that we do not appreciate our delivery drivers enough. That’s where TRDS (Totally Reliable Delivery Service) comes in. Up to four friends can join and haphazardly monkey around in a huge sandbox styled map. The game’s physics are goofy and exaggerated; guaranteeing you hours of laughs and giggles. If you have at least two friends, who can appreciate a good laugh, then give Totally Reliable Delivery Service a try.
