Augmented Reality Racing

 Next Generation of Mobile Racing

In my previous post, Real Gamers Allowed, I briefly spoke on my opinions of mobile gaming, and whether people who play them can be considered real gamers. As a traditional console and mobile gamer, I believe that anyone who plays video games for the pursuits of fun, inspiration, research or making cold hard cash; are gamers. Thanks to advances in augmented technologies, the inclusion of mobile gaming in the gamer-sphere is becoming a very real reality. Mobile Arcade: Virtual Racer and Race House is one of many first generation augmented reality racing games, where players have the ability to experience in game actions and rewards, via an external physical toy car.

By utilizing cutting edge augmented reality technology, Mobile Arcade turns your device into a fast-paced, virtual race track that you can take anywhere! Take control of the vehicle of your choice and sprint, jump and maneuver your way around the track. Demolish obstacles with a simple twist of the wrist, all while avoiding the perilous traps that get in your way.

whilst not racing.)

Racers Take Your Place

Odyssey's Virtual Racer game isn't the best augmented virtual racing game on the market, but there are a few gems to take away from the experience.  First off I really like the concept of virtual and physical elements being utilized to enjoy the game. The toy cars are also very cool, and light up based on the moves you make. Unfortunately, the games fall short in a few areas, compared to other racing and augmented reality games on the market. Some of the functions and QR codes don't work in the Race House Game, and control options could be a little better. The only redeeming quality of this game, are the toy cars. I really like how they have been designed to model after top car brands such as Lamborghini, Bugatti, Ford, and Nissan. If you like to collect toy cars like Matchbox and Hot Wheels, I'd recommend buying this game. But If you're genuinely interested in trying out an augmented mobile racing experience, I'd suggest buying the Hot Wheels Augmoto Race Set.  Overall, I still had fun playing the game and if its your into it too, check it out.
