Lamborghini Terzo Millennio - Electric Concept Ca

Introduction

Lamborghini's bold concept hypercar, Terzo Millennio, combines energy efficiency and innovative materials to carve a path in electric motors, creating a high-performance machine with an ability to heal itself!

Electric vehicles 🚗 🚙 have been an obsession of mine since my experiences at the 2019 FIA Formula - E Motorsport Championship and CONVERGE celebration. That's why I'm excited to introduce Lamborghini's Terzo Millenio, the electric supercar designed for the third generation. The vehicle was developed in collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and unveiled at EmTech 2017. Designed to include groundbreaking energy storage systems, innovative materials, and breathtaking propulsion; the Mellennio is as fascinating as it is amazing to look at.

Designing the Future

The Terzo's design is the work of Lamborghini chief designer, Mitja Borkert, and the company's Centro Stile department. The supercars technology is developed by Lamborghini chief technical officer Maurizio Reggiani, and a crack shot team of professors and students from M.I.T. The power source is comprised of a network of electric systems and a super-capacitor, to increase performance without having to depend on chemical reactions. These super-capacitors are designed to simultaneously harness and release energy. The exterior of the car is made up of nano-material technology that sends electrical charges into the body and components, acting as electrical storage units.

Power & Emotional Autonomy

The main advantage of using an electric propulsion system is that you can power all parts of the vehicle with cables, a feature Lamborghini utilizes to generate torque directly into the wheels. Each wheel is incredibly cool -- glowing an electrifying orange -- and fitted with an individual electric motor. An autonomous driving system is included, but only for racetrack driving. The car would run a full lap without any mistakes, then teach the driver how to run the lap on their own. The body of the car is monitored and will self-repair small dents, cracks, and scratches.

Lamborghini's Vision for Super Sport

Although we won't be seeing any Millennio's on the road anytime soon, I think it's progressive design will inspire other automakers to develop their own autonomous vehicles of the future.  The visionary design is a full expression of totally new technology, re-imagined architecture, and power system.
