(Illustration of young riders joyriding through metropolis)
Toyota's FV2, conceptualizes an ever-developing world, where the relationship between driver and vehicle progress into feelings of trust and understanding, similar to that of a rider and his or her horse. The intelligence powering this rolling stallion, incorporate developing technology under The Toyota Heart Project. This project, utilizes information from the driver, to build the machines trust and fondness for the driver. The Project aims to inspire people to more enjoyable and enriching lives, by fostering healthier relationships with their machines. Their slogan reads, “Inspiring the Heart, Inspiring You.”
Behind the Design

The first thing you will notice is that there's no steering wheel?! Rather than using an outdated steering column, drivers intuitively shift their body weight, moving the vehicle forward, back, left and right. In addition to an augmented reality (AR)1 display, the windshield can also be open while riding, resembling an inverted convertible. Finally, the FV2 body color and exterior display can be customized at will, for that personal touch, unlocking a whole new world of expression.
Conclusion
(Riders can create mix and match color displays for and even deeper connection with their ride)
The Toyota FV2 is a cool concept car, perfect for people who enjoying bonding with their vehicle. I appreciate features like the augmented reality display, traffic and driver assist, and especially the way in which drivers interact with the car. However, I still don't know how I feel about starting a relationship with a car. The concept is admirable, and I can't wait to see what else Toyota will release about the project in time. Until then, stay close to watch this space closely and see ...
