This year's
Art New York 2019 Fair offered up an impressive row of galleries; all representing incredible works of art by noteworthy artists from contemporary, modern, post-war, and pop eras. The fair held approximately 300 artists by 70 international galleries across 50 cities in 18 countries. Previously, I covered
seven standout galleries from the fair; however, in
this post, I'll be narrowing down the top seven artists who I believe stole the show.
LET'S BEGIN WITH

Eternity Gallery
Valay Shende is an Indian sculptor and video artist. His sculptural installations reveal an artistic, social, and moral vision in a unique way; adding a new dimension to classical ideas of sculpture. His life-sized sculptural pieces are built out of minute metal discs, pocket watches, copper-plated fiberglass, and other non-traditional materials. He is concerned with the everyday tribulations affecting contemporary urban society and uses his art as his commentary and observations.

Adelson Cavalier Galleries
Federico Uribe is a Colombian artist living in Miami, Florida. He transforms various objects, such as bullet shells, into colorful figures that stretch the limits of a given material’s original use and value. The artist moved to the United States in order to study painting, but he abandoned his painting practice in the early 2000s to create sculptures and installations of human figures and animals.

VK Gallery
Olga Kosheleva is a Ukrainian artist, who recently broadened her medium to include sculpture and other objects. She has participated in many exhibitions, which are held in many private collections across Europe and the Americas. Olga was also awarded the Leonardo da Vinci prize in Florence, 2018 and an award from the Biennale del Belvedere di San Leucio, Italy in 2017 for her collection, "Icebreakers". I'm drawn to the playful and positive nature inspired by Olga's pieces, certainly urging the viewer to consider their impact on the world.

Smith-Davidson Gallery
Paul Rousso's fascination with paper - currency, advertising, newspapers, magazines - its history and use, its rise and fall, is an emblematic theme reflected frequently in his compositions. Rousso endeavors to express his commentary on the human condition while physically, psychically, and temporally committing his entire life to the imaginative evolution of his visual artistry.

7. Kinki Texas | Follow
The visual motifs in Kinki Texas´ universe are characterized by their reference to landmark history, psychology, culture, and art history. He paints, sprays, writes, wipes, and scrapes away until he reaches a state where any additional painterly touch would overload the image. The raw appearance of these heroes and anti-heroes are matched by the roughness of the painted gestures captured in the German artists, large-scale pieces in vibrant color.

Avant Gallery
LaSsO re-envisions motifs, metaphors, and imagery experienced through different periods of the artist’s life, combined with tropical flowers and plants to create an uncanny integration between these seemingly disparate sources. A selection of LaSsO’s works was also showcased in the window displays of Valentino and Issey Miyake. In 2017, LaSso was included in ArtNet’s list of “10 Rising Street Artists Who Are Taking the Art Form Beyond Banksy.”
